Week 8

Week 8

Wow 8 weeks sounds like a long time. Jackson is 35 weeks gestation this week. It's hard to think if I was still pregnant we would be starting to get antsy/anxious for him to get here. I guess we are having the same feelings, just in a different way. When he was born they told us to plan on him being in the NICU 11-13 weeks. Well 3 weeks sounds really, wonderfully soon! But some days it seems impossible for him to be ready to come home in 3 weeks. He is getting closer on the weight minimum, 4 lbs. but he still needs to get his oxygen flow down to .5 liters per minute. They were weaning it, but he's been having troubles this week and he's gone back up to 2 liters per minute. He also needs to learn how to eat. At first he was showing a lot of interest. But again as he's struggled with throwing up and breathing this week, he's shown very little interest in eating. But he has amazed before with the progress he's made, and I know he will amaze me again. He is such a tough little fighter.

Jackson just loves that mom has been playing up dress up more, thanks everyone for the adorable preemie clothes!

This week Jackson started laughing smiling when you kiss the too if his head

Burp face

Getting so big!

Cuddling under the beautiful quilt Grammy Kuwitzky made

Jackson graduated to the big boy isolette. Mom hates it because now only one person can look at him and touch him at a time. Sharing sucks.

Day 57

Jackson day 57: 1647 grams or 3 lbs 10 oz. his breathing is getting better, we think the albuterol treatments helped open his airway up. He is still spitting up even with being on continuous feedings. So they are going to try reducing him from 24 calories per ounce to 22 calories per ounce to see if that upsets his tummy less. They would have started reducing his calories at 1800 grams anyway, so they are just doing it a little early to see if it helps. Other than that he's doing great. FOJSP!

Hmm what should I do today?

Can almost get his whole hand around dad's thumb
