Jackson day 59: 1764 grams or 3 lbs 14 oz. We thought reducing the calories from 24 per ounce to 22 per ounce was working because Jackson didn't throw up for 24 hours but then yesterday he threw up on both mom and dad while holding him. So we're still trying to figure out why he is throwing up. Because he is spitting up on both normal feeds every 3 hours and continuous feeding, Dr. Berger would rather get him back on track with resuming normal feeding. So today and tomorrow they will give him 33 cc over 2 hours and 1 hour off, then Monday he will be back to 33 cc over 1 hour every 3 hours. This afternoon when the nurse was getting him out for me to hold him the vapotherm shot a bunch of water up his nose and drown him. He had a big desat because of that and this mama bear lost it on the nurse and doctor. This has been happening everyday on the vapotherm because too much condensation gets built up and shoots up his nose. It has been causing more problems than doing good in my opinion. So I talked to Dr. Berger about other options for his oxygen. They are trying him at .9 liter per minute on a little bubbler that humidifies the oxygen a little bit but will not shoot water up his nose. He needed to be below 1 liter before they could try this. I am so happy that he will not be drown anymore and that we are getting back on track with eating. He was going to town sucking on his thumb today so I think he is ready to start eating again too. He is doing great. He is a fighter. FOJSP!!!
