Day 97

Day 97

Jackson day 97: 2412 grams or 5 lbs 5 oz. He's still doing great. He has just taken off with the eating. Now that he has that tube out and he's allowed to eat as much or as little as he likes, he's eating even more than they were requiring him to before. He's just so happy to not have that tube bugging him. So far things are still looking on track for coming home Monday. FOJSP!

Day 96

Day 96

Jackson day 96: 2411 grams or 5 lbs 5 oz. Notice anything different about his adorable face? NO MORE NG TUBE! Last night his nurse said it came loose, so she pulled it out and decided he didn't need it anymore. (I really think they're just sick of us but I'm good with that 😉) Ever since then he's eaten every bottle! Dr. Berger thinks he'll be home by Monday! He wants to get him weaned off the diurel and the steroid inhaler before he goes home because those are difficult to manage at home and would require visits to the pediatrician every few days to have his electrolytes checked. So we are going to try weaning him from those starting today. Happy Happy Day! FOJSP!

Day 95

Day 95

Jackson day 95: 2382 grams or 5 lbs 4 oz. Happy Mother's Day! What a wonderful day with this sweet little boy. He didn't finish yesterday eating quite as strong and only did about 60%, same today. But the cuddles just keep getting better everyday. Hope everyone had a wonderful day too! Love you! FOJSP!

Day 94

Day 94

Jackson day 94: 2371 grams or 5 lbs 4 oz. Jackson is getting this eating thing figured out. He ate 80% yesterday and so far has eaten 90% today! Let's hope he's on a roll! Since his weight has dropped a little bit they are going to start giving him MCT, which is the equivalent of safflower oil, to fatten him up. It is the easiest to digest since he didn't really like the fortifier. He's doing so amazing! FOJSP!

Day 93

Day 93

Jackson day 93: 2371 grams or 5 lbs 4 oz. He lost a little over an oz. We're not sure yet if it's the diuretic or being off the fortifier, but dr. Berger isn't concerned yet. The diuretic really seems to be helping a lot. His breathing seems significantly better. And his eating is getting better too. He's so excited to eat now, he's even holding the bottle himself. 😉 He's such a happy, sweet baby. FOJSP!

Day 92

Day 92

Jackson day 92: 2412 grams or 5 lbs 5 oz. It seems like the diuretic may be working for Jackson. His breathing sounds much better and his eating was a lot better today too. Jackson was wide awake earlier today. After nursing he was still acting hungry so we gave him half a bottle and he inhaled it in 5 minutes. Then he was still acting hungry so we gave him another fourth of a bottle which he inhaled. And he was unbelievably still acting hungry so we gave him another fourth which he inhaled. After all that he still wanted to play. It was such a great day for him and so fun to see. After that he has been more tired but hopefully he'll rest up and be ready to go at it strong again tomorrow! FOJSP!

Day 91

Day 91

Jackson day 91: 2420 grams or 5 lbs 5 oz. He's been eating a little bit better. He hasn't finished a bottle in quite a few days and he's finished 3 bottles last night/this morning. It seems like he really knows how to eat but it is a lack of energy thing because he still struggles with breathing. They think he may have fluid around the lungs because of the lung damage he has from being on the ventilator. They started giving him a diuretic that is similar to the lasix he has received after blood transfusions but it targets the lungs. Hopefully we'll see improvement in his breathing in a few days as he gets rid of some of that fluid. He has also had a bit of a tummy ache since they put him back on fortifier so we're trying him off again for 2 days to see if it helps. Hopefully these changes will help him. But he's still doing good. FOJSP!
